  • AFP Tour

The IVAO US division invites you to discover the wilderness of Alaska. Enjoy the beautiful landscape while you crossover the subcontinent. To get the badge you have to complete the 22 legs with 35 intermediate waterings included (this means to perform 35 intermediate full stops for 3 minutes at least). On approximately 3000 nm you will see endless woods, mild hills and cliffy mountains, imposing glaciers, the plain tundra, wide open marsh lands with uncounted lakes and also the coastlines from the Pacific and Arctic Ocean. The tour is fully VFR, but you can navigate by GPS or with VOR/NDB assistance.

When you have completed all the legs of this tour, you will get the 'Division Float Tour Award'.

Rules:

  • Floatable aircrafts are mandatory. If the AC is also equipped with a gear, at some of the fields inside the tour it's possible to land on runways and it's up to the pilot's discretion to do that. Otherwise watering in the nearer vicinity of the field. You find more information here.
  • No direct GPS routing will be accepted, no exemptions.
  • Your must operate under VFR conditions (VMC), if you are not familiar with this, read this or the appropriate chapter in the IVAO academy.
  • In our circumstance we operate mostly in uncontrolled airspace (Class G), so you have to respect the following minimums:
    • a.) At day, except as provided in 1 sm.
    • b.) At night, except as provided in 3 sm.
    • c.) Clear of clouds: 500 feet below. 1,000 above. 2,000 feet horizontal.
    • d.) Surface in sight: 1,200 feet or less above the surface (regardless of MSL altitude).
  • Maximum speed: 160 KIAS
  • Must make full stop with 10 minutes layover before you can fly next leg. And stay at every stopover for 3 minutes at intermediate watering.
  • If there is active ATC available at a controlled airfield, you must contact the appropriate controller.
